MAIN SQUARE OF LIMA
Setting of the Spanish foundation of Lima and some of the most important events of the history of Peru. Originally it was surrounded by small stores and commerce. Also it was used as bullring and like place of execution of them condemned by the Court of the Holy Investigation. Years later was placed in its central part the source of water (1651) that adorns it until today. It was here where was proclaimed, the independence of Peru in 1821. Around they are located the Palace of Government (to the north), the Cathedral and the Archiepiscopal Palace (to the east) and the city Hall of Lima (to the west).
CHURCH AND CONVENT OF SAN FRANCISCO
Beautiful colonial architectural complex formed by the Church and the Convent of San Francisco. It was built in the 17th century, their cloisters they excel and patios decorated with Sevillian tiles and their spectacular library. Is headquarters of the Museum of Religious Art and of the Room Zurbarán. The basilica is built on a network of subterranean galleries or catacombs that served as cemetery during the colonial epoch and that at present they can be visited for the public.
MUSEUM OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF RESERVE
In the historic center we visit one of its more beautiful buildings, the Museum of the Central Bank of Reserve, where the Treasures of Peru are appreciated: a select gold objects exposition, ceramics and textiles of diverse cultures pre-of Columbus, since its origins to the Inca, that captive and impresses to ours visiting.
ARCHEOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY OF PERU
